Stories are easier to capture
We improved recording startup, one-finger zoom, and hands-free recording in the Stories camera.
Why it matters
The September 5 update brings improvements to the Stories camera. A tap still takes a photo, and holding the button records video. Move your finger up to zoom, or left to lock recording so you can let go.
On iPhone, the camera now prepares for video recording in advance. Zoom responds to smaller finger movements, and the timer starts when recording actually begins, not when you first press the button.
We also corrected the mirrored appearance of new iPhone front-camera videos when viewed on other devices. Videos that were already published are unchanged.
The camera update is included in the September 5 closed-beta build for Android and iPhone. We are continuing to check capture on different devices: recording startup and video processing speed also depend on the phone.
